Stagetake vs Orai

Orai is the established app here: 4.6 stars from 3.7K US ratings. Stagetake is new, and it costs $3 less a month. Yearly and lifetime prices match.

One disclosure first: I make Stagetake. This page only states what I could source, and it says when the other app is the better pick. Stagetake is new, so it has no ratings to show.

What reviews say about Orai

Orai’s recent updates are bug fixes only, and App Store reviews call it “clunky”, with complaints about broken streaks and failed recordings. Sacra puts it at about 300K registered users, so it has real history behind it.

What Stagetake offers

• Scores for pace, pauses, words to watch, hedges and, in English, hesitations, each with a plain definition.
• One fix after each session, from your weakest number.
• Six languages: English, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, German and Italian.
• Audio and transcripts that stay on your iPhone, with no account.
• A transcript with every filler, hedge and long pause marked, and your take to listen back to.

My research didn’t cover how Orai handles any of these, so I make no claim about them here. Check its listing before you decide.
