A Poised alternative

Poised was acquired by Deepgram, and its site says it is “shutting down on 10/8/2026”. If you’re looking for somewhere to keep working on how you speak, Stagetake is one option, with one big difference: it’s a practice app for your iPhone.

One disclosure first: I make Stagetake. My research on Poised covers the acquisition and the shutdown notice, so I don’t compare features here.

How Stagetake works

• You record a practice session of up to 3 minutes, as audio.
• You get a score, the raw numbers behind it and one fix for next time.
• It measures pace, pauses, words to watch and hedges in six languages, and hesitations in English.
• Audio and transcripts stay on your iPhone, and there’s no account.
• It works on what you record in the app. It doesn’t join live calls or meetings.

When Stagetake fits

Stagetake fits if you want to rehearse before you speak. If you need feedback during live meetings, it isn’t that tool.
